Plots to be granted based on priority, not seniority

 
Muscat: The annual media briefing of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is currently underway in Muscat, which is chaired by minister Khalfan bin Saeed al Shueili.

Main highlights so far.

The value of real estate traded in 2021 was more than RO2 billion.

The value of real estate traded in 2021 witnessed an increase of four percent to reach RO2. 5 billion, and revenues amounted to RO72.5 million.

Nearly RO47 million provided for housing assistance to 2,000 beneficiary families

7,645 lands plots have been developed for various uses (residential, residential, commercial, agricultural, commercial, industrial, government).

More than 8 million collected as fees in 2021.

16 sites have been approved for food security projects with an area of 597 million sqm, and 7,645 plots for different uses have been planned.

5 new sites have been offered for the integrated service residential neighborhoods project.

A program was launched to simplify procedures.

2022 can be considered a year of transparency after the comprehensive digital transformation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.

The transactions received from the ministry office in 2021 were 3,000, compared to 8,000 in 2020 and 50,000 in 2019.

The trial run of the Amlak platform for integrated digital services will be launched on Tuesday. It will offer 50 electronic services related to the development and the estate registry to benefit citizens and investors.

The residential lands and registered distributed until 2020 amounted to about 1.319 million, of which 48% or 632,000 has been already been developed.

The non-developed lands amount to 686,000 (52%).

The number of applications is 509,000, of which 40% were from men and 60% from women.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is preparing an integrated plan for 4 main cities - Muscat, Nizwa, Suhar, and Salalah.

84% of the project to rehabilitate the people affected by the expansion activities of the Sohar Freezone area has been completed.

There is a plan to create a new road for a township in Jabel Akhdar from South Al Batinah, which can be accessed by cars other than four-wheel drives.

Previously, the land plot was granted on the basis of the seniority of the application, and now according to priority, which is in the interest of citizens as it helps them to get a home for their family.
