Oman win gold, silver in UAE President's Cup

MUSCAT: Oman national tent-pegging reserve team won two medals -- gold and silver -- on the first day of the UAE President cup tent pegging championship in Boudheeb International Endurance Village, in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
Daoud bin Aqib al Mashrafi claimed the gold for Oman, while he combined with Hamad bin Saif al Raisi to take the silver in the doubles event.
The championship, being organised by the UAE Racing Federation, features 14 teams, Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, three teams from Dubai and eight teams From Boudheeb Club.
The Sultanate of Oman team includes Daoud bin Ajib al Mushrafi, Hamad bin Saif al Raisi, Zaid bin Hamoud al Saidi and coach Muhammad bin Jumaa al Malki.
Javelin Singles
The first day’s competitions included eight rounds, the results were, three singles rounds with the javelin, the UAE claimed the first place and the gold medal through Atiq al Rumaithi with 36 points, and the second place came in the silver medal was won by Saudi Arabia's Samer Ali with 36 points.
UAE's Mohammed Al Hammadi also on 36 points won the bronze medal.
Spears Doubles
In the doubles rounds for the spear through three rounds, the UAE won the gold through Abdullah al Shamsi and Saif al Harthy with 36 points. The Sultanate of Oman came in second and snatched the silver medal through Hamad bin Saif al Raisi and Daoud bin Aqib al Mushrafi with 32 points. The third place and the bronze medal went to the UAE's Saeed Abdul Majeed and Saad Ibrahim with 30 points.
Two rings and a spear
In this round, Oman's Daoud bin Aqib al Mashrafi claimed the gold with 36 points. The UAE's Saeed Al Kharusi grabbed the silver medal with 36 points. The bronze was awarded to Saudi Arabia's Rashid al Marri with 34 points.
