Tour of Oman 2022 kicks off

 
Al Rustaq: The first stage of the Tour of Oman 2022 in its 11th edition kicked off on Thursday from Al Rustaq Fort in the Governorate of South Al Batinah.

The six-day event, which is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, sees the participation of 17 international teams from Europe, Asia, America and Australia.

The first stage extends for 138 km and will finish at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in the Governorate of Muscat.

The Tour of Oman aims to enhance the tourism sector by promoting prominent landmarks and tourist attractions through the selected routes.

The tour also targets the augmentation of the Sultanate of Oman's position globally with the aspiration of reaching new markets where the country can promote its civilization and history.

The entire length of the 11th edition’s tour is 891 km, divided into 6 stages which encompass a variety of terrains and natural scenery.

The second stage (167.5 km) will kick off on Friday from the Naseem Park in the Wilayat of Barka to the sea road of the Wilayat of Suhar.

The third stage will start from the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in the Governorate of Muscat to finish in the Wilayat of Qurayat, for a distance of 180 km.

The fourth stage (119.5 km) will begin on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from Al Sifah in the Governorate of Muscat to the Royal Opera House Muscat.

The fifth stage will kick off on Monday, February 14, 2022 for a distance of 150.5 km, starting from the Wilayat of Samayil to the endpoint in Al Jabal Al Akhdar.

The sixth and last stage of the Tour of Oman will start on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 for a distance of 135.5 km from Al Mouj in Muscat to the corniche of Mattrah.
