OEF to host international show jumping

MUSCAT: Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF) will host the second international show jumping championship (Masters 2022) in Barka on January 28 and 29.

More than 110 men and women horse riders from 12 countries will participate in the one-star championship.

Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Britain, America, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Canada, Italy, Iraq, Morocco along with hosts the Sultanate of Oman will participate in the two-day event.

The women's championship will be held for a first time in the Gulf, said Hasan bin Mahboob Hashmani, OEF chief executive.

The first round of the female riders championship will be held in preparation for a future GCC female horse riders championship, he said.

'The championship will give good exposure to the local officials in preparing for international show jumping. The track of the competition has to prepared well and the event will be held under strict medical protocol and medical examination for all participants and horses,' Hashmani added.

Technical Director Majid Hamad Al Hassani said the championship will be held according to the classification, regulations and laws approved by the International Equestrian Federation.



This international championship paves the way for an Arab competition in November 2022, he said, noting that the event comes within the context of Group 7 contest in which the riders strive to gather points to qualify for international Olympics and championships.

Khaild bin Mohammed Al Safi, Director of the Equestrian Activities Department in OEF, said

the Association accords significance to Olympic sports, notable showjumping. He welcomed the competitors, wishing them an enjoyable experience.

The championship will be in 3 days cautiously, through 14 strokes as 7 strokes each day, the first day, January 27, was devoted to technical preparation (veterinary examination and temperature measurement) the second day 28 of January, is the first day for competitions in 7 strokes divided as per the different categories for unisex, and the strokes are: first half for new local horses and new riders for 70 to 80 cm high. The local beginner’s category for 90 to 95 cm high. And the third half of the international women’s category, 105 cm high. And the fourth half for International Pan class,105 cm high. And the fifth half for international pan for 110 cm high. The sixth half for international pan,120 cm high. The Seven half for International pan height 130 cm. The competitions will be repeated on the third day.
