A repertoire of myriad images of the Sultanate of Oman, from ancient seafaring to a modern nation embracing the new Renaissance, is featured in a coffee table book in the backdrop of the country's participation at the Expo 2020.
The book, titled 'Excellence International' launched under the auspices of Mohsin Khamis al Balushi, Advisor, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), shares with the global visitors at the Oman pavilion a window to the history, society, safety and security, trade and commerce, economy, key performance indicators, and the possibilities available in the country for a better living.
'The Expo 2020 is no longer just a place to showcase the participating countries' goods, products, industrial achievements, and inventions. Instead, it's a venue to exchange views and put forward new creative ideas that contribute to the enrichment of contemporary civilisation,' said Al Balushi, who is also the Commissioner-General of the Sultanate of Oman for the Expo 2020.
The book, divided into six parts, makes an attempt to delve into the six different facets of the Sultanate of Oman. Starting with the history and culture of the Sultanate of Oman that traces the maritime tradition through Qalhat, Dhofar regions till the National Museum and Royal Opera House Muscat, the rich textual journey takes the readers to the sound safety and security through the Royal Oman Police and Oman's Vision 2040.
'According to Oxford Business Report, Oman's commitment to diversification has seen the country's non-oil sector record an average real GDP growth rate of 7 per cent since the turn of the century. It also noted that the Sultanate's strategic position near established global trade routes and a history of political neutrality is opening up opportunities for Oman in transport, trade, tourism and manufacturing,' Ayman Helal, CEO of Darran LLC, Director of Production of the 116-page book said in the foreword.
Ample pages have been set for the country's march towards the future through the Renewed Renaissance and key performers to the national strategy of empowering the economy and landing upon the Expo 2020 and its importance in showcasing the country on the global platform.
Inge Leutscher, President, Excellence International SA is the Publisher of the book while the production team consists of Majid al Hashmi, Head of Coordination and Followup at the MOCIIP, Sajda al Ghaithy, Director- Communications and Media, Adil al Uwaidi, Mechanical Engineer, Jokha al Rashdi, and Rana al Sabti.
