Sultanate of Oman marks World Arabic Language Day

 

The Sultanate of Oman, in cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain, organized a celebration on the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day at the United Nations, which falls on December 18 annually.

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said stressed that the Arabic language is one of the oldest languages spoken by humans since the dawn of history, linking about two billion Muslims and contributing to communication between people through literature, poetry, and philosophy.

A number of academics stressed the importance of celebrating World Arabic Language day due to the important role it plays in building bridges of communication between people on the basis of culture, science, literature, and other fields.
