Double crown for Shantanu in ISC annual tennis tourney

Muscat: Talented teenager Shantanu Sriram grabbed the limelight of ISC annual tennis tournament by winning U/14 and U/16 crown by beating Advait Kappil who was the challenger in both events

Undoubtedly both Shantanu and Advait are best players at the Indian Social Club and have played brilliant all-round tennis that saw them reach the summit clash in Boys and girls combined U/14 and Boys under U/16 singles. In a highly thrilling and closely contested U/16 final, Shantanu had to muster all his resources to stave off the determined challenge of Advait before emerging winner with scores of 6-2, 7-6, 8-6. Having shared the first two sets, the third set tie-breaker was a nail-biting affair. Both Shantanu and Advait were at their best plundering power-packed ground strokes as scores went neck-and-neck before Shantanu held his nerves to pip Advait narrowly to win the U/16 title.

In other matches of Girls and Boys combined U/14; Shantanu beat Rohit N in the semifinals scoring 6-0, 6-1; In another semifinals Advait beat Devdutt Subhash 6-0; 6-0; Nuha S beat Rahul N 8-5; Rohith N beat Kashyap 8-5 and Darsh beat Neil A 8-0

In U/16 Boys singles; Shantanu S beat Devdutt in a thrilling match scoring 7-6; 6-2 in semifinals and in other semifinal Advait Kappil beat Kashyap H 7-6; 6-2 and Devdutt S beat Rohit N scoring 8-3
