Shura economic panel approves final budget report

 
MUSCAT: The Economic and Financial Committee of Majlis Ash’shura has approved its final report on the draft state’s budget for the fiscal year 2022 which will be discussed at the third ordinary meeting of Majlis Ash’shura to be held next week.

The meeting discussed the committee’s recommendations included in its report particularly those relating to the mechanisms of financing the deficit, the government’s plans related to the diversification of the national income sources and increasing the contributions of the industrial, tourism and logistics sectors.

The report includes recommendations related to the electricity, water and fuel services and ways of avoiding any social impacts on the various segments of the society.

The committee also discussed recommendations related to the employment of job-seekers, details about the Job Security Fund and the conditions of the laid-off national workers.

The meeting discussed the draft Securities Law including the opinion of the Legislative and Legal Committee, and reviewed a proposal on the importance of statistical highlights of the results of private sector investments and its contributions to the gross domestic product (GDP).
