Oman Cricket volunteers all set for T20 World Cup

MUSCAT: Scores of volunteers speaking different languages have been selected and trained on Friday to facilitate the watching experience of the upcoming T20 World Cup Qualifiers at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium.
Each volunteer, deputed to help nearly 3,000 viewers from across the globe to the stadium at different gates, has been given proper briefing on how to carry out his/her task for the successful implementation of the mega event from October 17 to 21.
'We are all set to play host to the upcoming T20 qualifiers with the Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Bangladesh, besides Oman,'said Pankaj Khimji, Chairman of Oman Cricket.
The major sports event that has already made Oman the cynosure of global attention will see 16 national teams attend the first round. Out of this, 8 teams will be qualified for the second round. India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, England and Afghanistan are in the fray.
Ireland, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, and Namibia will play the first round in the UAE. Two teams will qualify for the second stage with the another two coming from the Oman group.
The classification of the International Cricket Council (ICC) says that 12 teams, divided into 2 groups, will play in the second round, and will continue until November 8.
This is the first time that an event of this magnitude in terms of cricket is happening on Oman soil. The Sultanate is set to receive plethora of benefits in terms of branding as a cricket destination. Aviation, various hospitality channels, transportation and healthcare are going to be receiving the end benefits of this event.
