New decision on expat license fee for SMEs

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour issued a new decision regarding thefees for issuing and renewing licenses for the recruitment and practice of non-mani manpower in small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The decision states that the institution must be owned by full-time employers to manage it - which holds an entrepreneurship card - and is registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, and insured with the Public Authority for Social Insurance. Retirees who have an entrepreneurship card are excluded from registration with the Public Authority for Social Insurance.

The facility shall be for one institution only and not for other institutions owned by the owners of the institution.

There should be at least one Omani employee if the license application is for a number of six to 10 workers.

The fees are RO301 to license to recruit expatriates, RO141 for to recruit one to three domestic or similarly-skilled workers, RO241 to recruit four or more domestic or similarly skilled workers, RO201 to recruit two to three farmers and breeders, and RO301 to recruit four or more.

RO5 will be charged to change worker data, and RO5 to change the employer.
