Oman may make vaccination a must to enter public places

 
Muscat: As part of its ongoing session, the Supreme Committee tasked with tacking developments resulting from the coronavirus pandemic held a meeting on Thursday under the chairmanship of Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi, Minister of Interior, to discuss updates about the pandemic, measures of protection against the virus and ways to curb its spread.

The Supreme Committee has urged that all those who have not received the first dose of the vaccine to get the jab at the earliest.

The committee said it is currently studying taking appropriate measures related to immunization to ensure public health for all, by setting the necessary measures for entering public places and availing the services provided by institutions and establishments of the public and private sectors, and travel regulations to and from the Sultanate, among others.

Accordingly, the committee has decided to continue with the decision to close commercial activities and prevent the movement of individuals and vehicles but reducing its timing to be between 10pm to 4 am starting Thursday, July 29 until further notice.

The committee expressed its appreciation to all segments of the society for the full abidance by the procedures approved recently, especially the total lockdown during Eid Al Adha. It also expressed its utmost thank to all civil, security and military institutions, private sector establishments and various work teams for the efforts exerted during this period.

The Supreme Committee expressed happiness over the noticeable decrease in the number of infections, inpatients inwards and ICUs in all hospitals in the Sultanate, in addition to the gradual decrease in the number of deaths. The SC urges all members of the society to continue to adhere to the precautionary measures approved, stressing that this commitment will be supported by the progress of the national campaign for immunization against Covid-19 19
