Oman, Russia seek to boost trade tie-ups, exchange of expertise

MOSCOW: Dr Saleh Said Masan, Under-Secretary for Commerce and Industry at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, has met with Aleksei Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce of the Russian Federation.

The meeting comes within the framework of the joint cooperation and exchange of technical expertise in industries and boosting trade exchange between the two countries.

The talks covered means of boosting trade exchange, benefiting from technical expertise in technology and information technology, as well as increasing Russian investments in the field of industry.

The meeting was attended by Yousef Issa al Zadjali, Ambassador of the Sultanate to the Russian Federation, Hilal Hamad al Hasani, CEO of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), and a number of officials from the ministry.

Dr Saleh also met with Victoria Kazakova, Minister of Investment and Development of the Sverdlovsk Region and Vasiliy Kozlov, Minister of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region.



During the meeting, the two sides reviewed Russia’s experience in developing industrial cities.

The Omani delegation introduced the Russian officials to the investment opportunities in the industrial sector in the Sultanate. The delegation also shared the experience of Madayn and the incentives it offers for foreign investors.

Meanwhile, the Omani delegation participated in the international Russian industry conference “Innoprom 2021” in response to an official invitation from Russia’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The opening ceremony of the conference was held under the patronage of Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. The conference saw the participation of more than 90 countries, and it involved more than 150 events related to the industry field.

The conference is one of the major industry events in Russia since 2010. It gathers industrialists, exporters and traders, as 80 per cent of the conference’s visitors are international buyers from all over the world, industrial companies, decision makers and experts. - ONA
