Online summer programme taps talents of special school students

Muscat: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuous Learning, organised the first virtual summer program for special education schools themed “We continue for you”, under the auspices of Dr Ali Al Shukaili, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Private Schools at the Ministry.

In its first edition, the virtual summer program aimed providing participants with the necessary knowledge and skills, which would enable them to improve their educational achievement, discover and refine their talents, support their experiences, and develop their various skills.

The virtual summer program also aims to direct these students’ behavioral emotions, intellectual and energies in a positive way to engage them during their summer vacation, as well as training them on skills such as public speaking, environmental awareness and recycling.



On the importance of this virtual summer program for students of special education schools, Dr Fathia al Sidiyah, Director-General of the Directorate- General of Special Education and Continuous Learning at the Ministry, said: “This summer program comes in continuation of the efforts of the Ministry of Education to present its educational mission, and to enhance its societal roles outside the actual study times for students, by providing educational activities in which knowledge is mixed with application and entertainment in a flexible manner in a virtual educational atmosphere full of suspense.”

The first virtual summer program covered many activities with training in practical workshops suitable for students with disabilities that helped them develop appreciation to their abilities, discover and develop their talents, and enhance their self-confidence as good individuals capable of reconstructing and building the renaissance of their society with all its scientific and practical requirements.
