Shura economic panel debates draft securities law

 

MUSCAT: The Economic and Financial Committee of Majlis Ash’shura held its 16th ordinary meeting under the chairmanship of Ahmed bin Said al Sharqi, head of the committee, on Tuesday.

The committee hosted a number of experts from the Capital Market Authority (CMA) to seek their opinions about the draft securities law referred to Majlis Ash’shura from the government.

The committee discussed a number of articles governing penalties and administrative and penal violations in accordance to the size and environment of the local market.

The amendments of the Capital Market Authority are aimed at upgrading the financial management sector and opening new markets for investment to push forward the development process in the Sultanate.
