RNO concludes sailing training programme

MUSCAT: The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, has concluded the sailing and adventure training program for 2021.
The closing ceremony was held at Said Bin Sultan's Naval Base under the auspices of Khalifa Saif al Issa'ee, Director General of Sports Activities at the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
The event was held onboard RNO vessel (Shabab Oman II). As many as 20 male and female civil employees took part in the programme. The event's activities kicked off on June 27.
During the programme, the participants were familiarized with sailing sciences, arts of sea and navigation; in addition to training them on the sailing systems, how to sail with triangular and square sails, using safety equipment on the sea, fire exercises, how to deal with floods on ships, using maps and ship maintenance.
The program also focused on the principles of teamwork, endurance, marine adventure, self-restraint and bonding with teammates. -- ONA
