Madayn closes 140 industrial establishments for Covid-related violations

MUSCAT: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), closed 140 industrial establishments and issued violations for 161 others.

Engineer Basem al Zedjali, Director of Inspection, Control and Occupational Safety at Madayn, said that Madayn carried out a set of preventive measures against Covid-19 between March 17, 2020 and end-June this year. These measures included inspections on 4,931 establishments. Of that total, 3,958 were found to be committed to the precautionary measures while 973 others received a notice to rectify their conditions. Besides, Madayn’s emergency room handled 2,221 reports during the same period.

During this period Madayn carried out disinfection operations at 244 establishments. The disinfection operations included the administrative buildings at the industrial estates, the Knowledge Oasis Muscat and Al Mazunah Free Zone.
