MUSCAT: The artistic talent of Majan University College shone brightly at the first ever virtual ArtFest with performances, poetry, paintings and presentations from across the student body on show. Each student was tasked with preparing a one-minute video to display their work created with an environmental message.
Students presented art in all its forms and glory to the panel of judges, selected from different academic fields and backgrounds. Work submitted by students throughout May was eligible for consideration and the winners were announced on May 20, 2021.
Nabila al Macki, Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs) at Majan University College, said, “Majan University College always aims to nurture the creativity of our students and encourage them to become universal citizens by considering the environment. Inspiring and supporting students a key component of all curriculums at the college and we are delighted by the enthusiasm with which students embraced ArtFest.”
Artfest was organized on a virtual platform due to Covid-19 restrictions giving students an opportunity to present and compete on a variety of activities virtually. Participants were given two weeks to prepare their video showcasing their abilities in a range of artistic pursuits, such as drama, singing, collage, painting, art and craft, presentation, tableau, mimicry and poetry recitation.
The organizing team supported students throughout the process and provided them with an enriching experience as students had been isolated from College for much of the academic year due to the pandemic.
