Main committee to oversee application of vocational training in post-basic education

MUSCAT: Within the framework of the implementation of the Royal directives issued by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, to take whatever procedures necessary to introduce vocational and technical training in the post-basic education, Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education has issued a ministerial decision to form the main committee for applying technical and vocational training in the post-basic education under the chairmanship of the minister of education. The committee’s membership comprises the two under-secretaries of the ministry of education and a number of experts.

As per the decision, the main committee shall oversee the technical and vocational education project in post-basic education, and the procedures for analysing the needs and requirements necessary to implement the project, identifying the necessary expertise and human resources, and adopting a methodology and an action plan according to which the project implementation mechanism is determined in line with the requirements and needs of the labour market and the futuristic and basic skills required in different jobs and professions.

The committee shall adopt the general frameworks of the master plan of the project and the procedural executive plans that will be submitted by the competent technical team, approve the proposed study plans based on future needs, and supervise the follow-up and evaluation of the progress of work in the executive plans of the project.
