Al Hamra wildlife fire contained

 

Al Hamra: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority(CDAA) on Thursday with the support of the Police Aviation, the Royal Air Force of Oman and other teams from the Royal Oman Police managed to douse the wildfire that broke out at the Ras Al Harq area in the Wilayat of Al Hamra.

The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority used the Police Aviation and the Royal Air Force of Oman aircraft to contain the fire as helicopters were unable to carry out operations because of the rugged mountainous terrain and the lack of water sources.



In a statement issued by the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) said 'After strenuous efforts and in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, the Royal Air Force of Oman, other competent authorities and volunteer teams, the authority confirms that the firefighting teams have controlled the fire in the Ras Harq area in the Wilayat of Al Hamra.'

'The teams are still continuing to carry out cooling operations and monitor the site in anticipation of any emergency.' CDAA said
