Here are the rules cafes and restaurants should follow

Another restaurant closed for violations

Muscat: As Oman recorded a surge in covid-19 cases across the Sultanate, authorities are taking all efforts to strictly enforce rules laid out by the Supreme Committee to limit the spread of the virus.

Muscat Municipality and Ministry of Heritage and Culture closed down some hotels and restaurants in the city for violating SC rules.

The Supreme Committee on Covid-19 has outlined a number of rules that cafes and restaurants should keep in place.

While cafes and restaurants are allowed to serve customers indoors, they have to keep in mind the importance of following the precautionary measures needed to curb the spread of Covid-19.

According to the SC, cafes and restaurants should restrict the capacity to 50%, keeping the unused tables in their places

Maximum of four people per table with two meters social distancing between one table and another.

The temperature of customers has to be checked and their visits to the restaurant should be registered.

ANOTHER RESTAURANT CLOSED FOR VIOLATIONS

The Muscat Municipality on Sunday said it has closed down another restaurant for failing to adhere to the Supreme Committee (SC) decisions.

“After completing the inspection, The Steak Co restaurant is closed for violating decisions of the Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with the coronavirus outbreak. Legal measures are taken against the owners,” said a statement from the Municipality.

The municipality alerted the need to fully comply with the precautionary decisions and requirements set by the SC.

Earlier, the municipality had closed down Huqqa Restaurant and Cafe in Al Mouj for violating SC rules.

Last Friday, The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) announced the closure of The Chedi Muscat Hotel and imposed penalties, after cases were confirmed as a result of non-compliance with implementing the preventive measures.
