Sultanate gives priority to environment protection

MUSCAT: The Sultanate joins the rest of the world to mark the World Environment Day which is celebrated on June 5 each year. This year’s celebrations come amid calls for taking urgent measures to revive and restore the affected ecosystems to enable the people to get food, clean water, livelihood and to save the endangered animals and plants.
The Environment Authority is currently amending the law on Conservation of the Environment and Prevention of Pollution by adding some chapters that are required locally, regionally and internationally in this period.
Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority said that the Sultanate is among the countries that have gone a long way in the environmental field and has paid attention to the natural habitats and the conservation of ecosystems. — ONA
