Oman to have extensive warm-up programme

MUSCAT: With less than 77 days to go for the top’s world soccer beach event, Oman’s beach soccer national team will enter very soon into a comprehensive training schedule ahead at Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021 that will be held from August 19 to 29. The upcoming overseas camp for the team in Dubai will take place on June 20 and will last for ten days. The external preparatory camp will feature many warm up matches against UAE and Japan teams which are ranked as top Asian teams.
The experienced national coach Talib Hilal, and his technical staff are looking for a different show in the upcoming edition of Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup. The national teams panel at Oman Football Association (OFA) confirmed providing all required support to the soccer beach team in their top world assignment. The technical staff of the soccer beach team will announce soon the details of July month’s preparation after confirmation of the camps and friendly match dates.
The former Asian champions had concluded in the previous month an overseas camp in Morocco after an absence of training and warm up sessions due to the Covid pandemic. The preparatory external camp which was for a period of six-days included two vital friendly games against Morocco beach soccer team. The Sultanate’s team had suffered a 5-2 loss in the first preparatory game while they registered a 3-1 win in the second friendly game. Abdullah al Souti scored two goals and Khalid al Oraimi netted the opening goal.
In all the previous participation in Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna city in Italy in 2011, in Portugal in 2015 and Paraguay in December 2019, the Sultanate beach soccer team had managed to record two victories. The first triumph was registered against Costa Rica 7-2 in Portugal 2015 and then in Paraguay when they beat Nigeria 6-5. Under supervision of the experienced long-time coach Talib Hilal, Oman beach soccer team was the champions of the Asian Beach Games in Bali city, Indonesia in 2008. The team had finished as runners-up twice in Muscat 2010 edition and Danang, Vietnam in 2016. Coach Talib Hilal’s men had lifted the title of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup in 2015 and positioned as runners-up in the 2009 edition.
