OOA to organise virtual course on “Management and hosting high profile sporting events”

The Oman Olympic Academy (OOA) will resume the virtual courses which was planned for 2021.
“Management and hosting sporting events” will be the upcoming course title and that will be held remotely through MS Teams platform from June 8 to 10. The three days online course will be delivered by Dr. Abdulrahim al Droushi, an assistant professor in Sports Management and Policy at Physical Education Department in Sultan Qaboos University.
The virtual course will aim to enable all the participants on movement of the knowledge of designing and hosting the high profile events into practical experiences that will ease execution of the high class sporting tournaments through available resources. The certified lecturer will provide during online course the different classifications of sporting events, main principles on organising top sporting championships, using volunteer’s management programes for sporting events, utilising the right methods for proper marketing to the sporting events, implementing professional plan to organise top sporting championship and having proper evaluation methods to develop weakness areas.
Variety of related topics will be discussed during the three days of the online course including: meaning of hosting high profile sporting championships, expected outcomes and revenues from hosting sporting events, privacy of top high profile sports tournaments, stages of planning, designing and executing the sporting event, management and selection of right volunteers, marketing of the world class sporting events and practical experience on evaluation for the sporting events.
The course will target different categories and that featured employees of Olympic committees, staff of sporting associations and committees, employees of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Military sports representatives and school sporting members.
The OOA was launched in December 2018 at the premises of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) and it is classified as the best hub for sportspersons, coaches, administrators to capture different basic platform in terms of knowledge, training and administration.
Beside the learning courses, the academy has an Olympic library as a facility for students and academicians who specialised in sports to serve them in scientific researches and references. It includes hundreds of sporting related books and references which can be borrowed.
The first year of the Academy registered organisation of courses and workshops on various academic and sports disciplines. More than 150 participants took part in the courses which provided 225 training hours. The second year was impacted by Covid situation as OOA moved to the virtual classes.
