Wadi Darbat is one of the most beautiful places in the Dhofar Governorate, due to its stunning views, greenery scenes, constant water flow and seasonal waterfalls flowing in streams and rocky curves.

It is located 7 kilometres to the east of Wilayat Taqah, where Sidr trees and many large shady trees are spread on its sides. Darbat is known to represent a natural garden due to its combined elements such as mountains, waterfalls, caves and flat plains on both sides, which allowed for the existence of different types of wildlife. It is the nest of endemic and migratory birds and various wildlife.

The flow of the Wadi Darbat waterfall called “Jaafar” attracts large numbers of tourists annually. Its link with Khor Ruri and the historic port of Samharam constitutes a beautiful sight. During the different climatic conditions, the wadi’s inhabitants, including camel and sheepherders, seek refuge in the caves, seeking safety for themselves and their animals.

A year-round canal runs throughout the wadi and that’s what makes this place different from the rest of the places in Dhofar.

Sometimes, this canal is referred to as a lake as in some parts it is a bit wide and looks like a lake. There are a couple of activities on the canal for kids and adults.

For safety, the bright colour safety vest should be worn during boating. This vest is provided by the boating company. The visitor can also enjoy kayaking and other activities.

Dhofar Municipality has recently developed some facilities and created others,

such as re-asphalting the road leading to the wadi and establishing a yard overlooking the wadi waterfall with parking lots and metal barriers overlooking the lakes on the road leading to the spring.
