The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has invited private companies and institutions that have the technical and financial capabilities to apply for a competition for the lease, operation, and employment of Muttrah Fort and Al Bait al Kabir in Muttrah, Governorate of Muscat.
An application to purchase the brochure containing the Terms and Conditions and the Specifications can be found in the Financial Affairs Department of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (Second Floor) during official business hours, starting May 30 until June 3. Documents can be purchased for RO25 and the last date for submitting bids will be 1 PM, on June 26.
Located on top of a rocky, narrow hill, Mutrah Fort stands tall facing the sea and inhaling the winds that waft the fragrant memory of ships gone by, ships that once sailed these azure waters.
The fort seems as if it were the only passage connecting Mutrah and Muscat. Currently, it consists of three circular towers: a huge one sitting on the summit and the remaining smaller two are located one at the first point in the West, and the other, which still houses one of the old cannons, to the north of the fort near the large tower.
The historic Muttrah Fort overlooks the Port Sultan Qaboos, Souq Muttrah, and neighboring tourist spots. Visitors to the fort of Muttrah can reach the area by car via Souq Muttrah towards the office of Wali Muttrah, and then turning right towards the fort.
