Arab Health Ministers Council reviews health conditions in Palestinian lands

MUSCAT, May 23
The Sultanate’s Ministry of Health on Sunday took part in the virtual 55th ordinary session of the Arab Health Ministers Council that was attended by the health ministers of the member Arab Countries.
Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Health, represented the Sultanate in the meeting.
The meeting was commenced by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States address, praising all doctors and health care providers working at the Arab health sectors who gave their full energy for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
The General Secretariat also affirmed its support for all efforts of the Arab Health Ministers Council to enhance health care services in the Arab region.
The meeting highlighted spectrum of topics including the project of Arab strategy and its implementation mechanism to unite efforts to ensure provision of vaccines and fair distribution to Arab countries.
The meeting reviewed health conditions at Palestinian lands including the occupied East Jerusalem and occupied Syrian Golan. They stressed the significance of providing all forms of necessary humanitarian and health support, and supplying the Palestinian health sector with the medical needs urgently.
Moreover, the meeting discussed the Arab Strategy for Health Friendly Budget project that is carried out by the Technical Secretariat of the Arab Ministers of Health Council in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for Arab countries as well the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. It further touched upon the unified address of Arab Health Ministers Council to the WHO General Assembly.
The meeting also reviewed the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism Resolution No. 290 regarding support for the re-launch and revitalization of the tourism and travel sector in the Arab countries after the sector was affected by the conditions of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic by unifying the followed health measures in the Arab world to prevent Covid-19. In addition, the meeting studied forming the Executive Bureau of the Arab Health Ministers Council 2021-2022.
At the end of the meeting, recommendations and the meeting's agenda were adopted. All the participants showed appreciation to the Arab medical staff for their significant efforts in confronting the Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Health Organisation General Assembly, which will begin on Monday in Switzerland, Geneva.
