MUSCAT, MAY 15 - The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) emphasised that the Governance, Management and Development programme for the industrial sector, aims at creating the right administrative, legal, organisational, technical and contractual conditions to help the ministry successfully implement the Sultanate’s Manufacturing Strategy 2040.
The programme also aims at enhancing the methodology for framing new laws and regulations, developing new processes and affixing responsibilities, as well as supporting the ability of the government to implement the manufacturing strategy.
In order to achieve the objectives of the manufacturing strategy, many laws governing the industrial sector have been modernised to keep pace with current trends. New regulations have also been formulated.
In the context, Eng Salim bin Suleiman al Hatami, Director of the Directorate General of Planning and Industrial Studies at the ministry, said: “The past few years have witnessed major changes in the Sultanate’s economic environment, while the new legal framework will reflect efforts to upgrade the ministry’s ability to play the role of a strategic promoter for industrial diversification.”
He added: “Based on the outputs of the Governance, Management, and Development programme, a National Industry Development Committee was formed to support Omani products, enhance the implementation of the Manufacturing Strategy 2040, and tackle manufacturing challenges.
