Efforts on to restore utility services in North Batinah

 
Muscat: Within the framework of the national efforts of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF) and other departments, the engineering services at the Ministry of Defence activated its operational plan to deal with the effects of the weather situation in North al Batinah Governorate, by sending generators to restore the electricity supply.

The engineering services sent heavy equipment to reopen roads and remove waste, pumps for water suction, and sewage tankers, while specialists continue to assess the situation and provide technical support to citizens and residents.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) said efforts are underway to restore telecommunications services in the governorates of North and South al-Batinah, which have been affected by the weather.

The total of the affected stations include 102, and 75 percent of them have been returned to work.

Heavy rains and active winds in Saham, Al-Khaboura, Al-Suwaiq, and Seeb caused many damages to properties due to the uprooting of a number of trees and palms, collapse of walls roofs built with unstable materials.

Some farm animals were also killed during the unstable weather conditions.
