OFA to organise futsal event at AWJ Sports Festival

MUSCAT, May 1 - Oman Football Association (OFA) signed an agreement with the organising committee of the AWJ Sports Festival at the headquarters of OFA in Seeb Stadium recently. The contract will allow OFA to organise an internal futsal tournament during the AWJ Sports Festival which will begin by earlier of June until end of July. The agreement was signed by Shaikh Salim al Wahaibi, Chairman of OFA, and Salim al Habsi, head of the organising committee of the AWJ Sports Festival.
OFA will take part in the domestic sporting festival in accordance to the guidelines of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth on participation of the associations and committee in this top sporting local event. According to the OFA announcement, the futsal tournament will be organised this summer under strict medical protocol to ensure the safety of all the participants from on going Covid-19 pandemic.
On January 24, the organising committee of the AWJ Sports Festival had launched the festival in presence of officials from Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, representatives of the sports associations and committees and club’s representatives.
The duration of the festival is 60 days and will be held during June and July and as part of the summer sporting activities.
Fifty sporting events will be organised in different individual and group sports including some regional and international profile championships. Many of the sports associations and committees had announced their partnership in this summer sporting festival with the AWJ Sports Festival Company including: Oman Hockey Association (OHA), Oman Cycling Association (OCA), Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA), Oman Committee for University Sports (OCUS), Oman Basketball Association (OBA) and Oman Tennis Association (OTA).
