Zubair SEC participates in 2nd Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs

Muscat: Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) participated in the second Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs held in Salalah from August 8 to 10, 2017. Zubair SEC, which has been supporting and facilitating the emergence of social entrepreneurship, presented a paper on social entrepreneurship at the well-attended Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs. Through entrepreneurial collaboration and exchange of expertise, Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs aimed to help women achieve greater success.


Presenting her paper, Lina Hussein, Head of Communications & Social Impact, Zubair SEC underscored the importance of social entrepreneurship and explained how innovative ideas can grow into high-impact sustainable solutions to social problems, driven by business scalable models.


Through her paper she highlighted how social entrepreneurship can contribute to socio-economic development. She shared success stories of Zubair SEC members who proved that substantial social impact can result from market-driven enterprises. She elucidated how women entrepreneurs can excel in the growing business of social entrepreneurship.


Lina Hussein said, “We are thankful for the opportunity to participate in the second Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs. Engagement with such a rich and dynamic conglomerate of entrepreneurs and key stakeholders in the local and international arena provided tremendous insight and value for those who participated in the forum. At Zubair SEC, we are keen to always promote social impact through business, and it was a special opportunity to discuss social entrepreneurship and social impact of business with such an engaged and resourceful audience.”


Zubair SEC has been the first institute in the Sultanate to dedicate an award for social entrepreneurship as part of its annual Direct Support Programme.


It has also embedded social impact as a key part of the assessment criteria for applicants to the annual programme.
