MUSCAT: To spread passion for sports among school students, the Zubair Corporation LLC (Z-Corp) extended support to Oman Handball Association (OHA) to organise a school tournament at the Al Amal Club. The schools, which participated in the tournament, are Al Amal Basic Education school, Al Hadhara Basic Education School, Al Fatah Basic Education School and Al Sarooj Basic Education School. Well known Omani players from the OHA devoted time to coach the students during the championship.
Thanking Z-Corp, OHA Chairman Dr Said bin Ahmed al Shehri said, “We all know that engaging in sports activities helps improve students’ focus and help them lead happier, healthier lives. Inspiring school students’ participation in such tournaments will make a positive difference to their lives. Such championships will encourage and highlight good team spirit among students. We are extremely grateful that a group like The Zubair Corporation is supporting our association. Z-Corp commitment and support has given an enormous boost to development of sports and associated clubs in the country.”
Mohammed al Hasani, Chief Communication Officer, Z-Corp and Dr Said bin Ahmed al Shehri were the special guests at the finals of the tournament.
Speaking about extending support to the tournament, Ibrahim al Salmi, Assistant General Manager Corporate Communication Officer, Z-Corp said, “While Z-Corp has always been committed to supporting the sports sector in the Sultanate, it believes that to cultivate sporting talent in Oman, youngsters should be provided the perfect ambience to develop it. Z-Corp has been supporting various activities that encourage young Omanis to take up sports and supporting this championship is part of that strategy.”
He added, “We are pleased to support this tournament which inspires the participation of school children. The endorsement of sports among youngsters is important as it contributes to their development both mentally and physically. Backing such events furthers our mission of being a group that impacts society positively. Similarly, we had extended support to Oman Chess Committee to organise chess competitions in school.”
It may be recalled that Z-Corp and OHA had signed a partnership agreement under an Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) initiative which encourages partnership between private and sports sectors. Z-Corp has been supporting all the activities of Oman Handball Association since the agreement signed in October 2015.
