Workshop on biorisk management

MUSCAT: The Risk Management Office and the Department of Soils Water and Agricultural Engineering at the College of Agriculture and Marine Sciences, SQU, organised a workshop on “Biorisk Management” at the College on Thursday. The workshop targeted professionals who work with biological materials like plants, animals and humans. The main objective of the event was to create awareness on biorisk management, introducing the key principles of risk assessment, risk mitigation and performance management. The ultimate goal is to reduce hazards and threats and to develop a safe and secure practices among life scientists at Sultan Qaboos University. Working in laboratory environments requires special skills and training on best practices and procedures to minimise risks. Therefore, raising awareness and building competencies among lab workers seems to play a key role in controlling the accidents frequencies and their consequences.
