Workshop on accreditation at CAS today

SUHAR: The College of Applied Sciences (CAS) Sohar is organising a one-day national workshop on Accreditation for Engineering Programmes (AEP2017) today. The workshop is conducted by the Accreditation Committee of the Department of Engineering. Aimed at creating awareness on the need for programme accreditation, the workshop focuses on the fundamental aspects of programme accreditation and imparts hands-on experience for the participants drawn from various higher education institutions offering engineering programmes in the country. Dr Ali al Lawati, Dean, CAS Sohar said: “This workshop is organised in line with the strategic plans of the College of Applied Sciences and also reiterates the commitment of the college in offering programmes of international standards.”


Dr Bushra al Hasni, Assistant Dean for Academic and Scientific Research, indicated the continuous commitment of the department of engineering, CAS Sohar, in its numerous activities such as research, community outreach, industry engagement and quality assurance procedures.


Dr Saad al Jabri, Head of the Department of Engineering and Convener of the workshop, expressed his appreciation for the accreditation committee for conducting an event on the important theme of programme accreditation.


Dr Govindarajan Lakshmanarao, coordinator of this workshop, said: “Accreditation helps to benchmark any programme on par with international standards and offer numerous benefits to all stakeholders of the higher education institution. CAS Sohar is taking its sincere efforts in seeking accreditation by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology ABET for its engineering programmes and sustained efforts are put in by the department in this direction”.
