A high-level brainstorming session on ways to reduce LTI (Lost Time Injury) and safeguard employees engaged in construction activities in Oman is being held on Sept 12.

The two-day conference, to be held under the auspices of Ministry of Oil and Gas, will be held at Crowne Plaza Muscat.

Recommendations made by experts at the conference will be collated and submitted to the Ministries of Manpower, Social Development, Labour, besides Oil and Gas, for consultations and implementation, a highly placed source told the Observer.

“The conference is a result of consultations and thoughts on how to reduce accidents at workplace and safeguard the people and properties,” the organisers have said.

“There have been several incidents in which the safety and security of workers have been conveniently ignored. Companies are paying least attention to their safety at work,” said Salim al Sheedi, Registered Arbitrator and Consultants, Well Gate.

“Such knowledge-sharing events can put workers safety in focus and invite better norms for the same.”
