Woman held for turning tailor shop into clinic

MUSCAT, Nov 26 - An Asian was arrested in Muttrah for offering medical treatment by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP).


According to information, the woman, who was employed in a tailoring shop, had been selling medicine and offering treatment as well.


“Such acts not only violate the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations, but also poses threat to human health and safety,” said PACP.


The expat illegally treated patients who visited her. On a tip-off, the PACP inspectors visited the shop where they discovered the ‘clinic’ too.


They seized hundreds of tablets, some liquid medicine, ointment tubes, a stethoscope, a glucometer, a post-pregnancy scanner. were said to be stored in unsuitable conditions.
