KLAIPEDA: President Dalia Grybauskaite of Lithuania visited the Royal Navy of Oman Vessel (RNOV) “Shabab Oman II” while the vessel anchored in Klaipeda Port.
President Grybauskaite toured various sections of the vessel during which she viewed its facilities and equipment. She also familiarized herself with the vessel’s roles in disseminating the message of love and peace among nations around the world.
She was also briefed on the vessel’s route “Sail of Friendship and Peace,” as well as the vessel’s humanitarian and training objectives.
At the end of her visit, the President of Lithuania signed the visitor’s book expressing her delight to view various equipment, facilities and traditional designs of the vessel. She also expressed her admiration of activities, as well as heritage and cultural performances staged by the vessel’s crew. Further, she hailed the humanitarian role being carried out by Shabab Oman II and its noble message.
The RNOV ‘Shabab Oman II’ has been organising several cultural activities and training programmes at the countries they visit.
Among the ship’s goals with their voyage is to disseminate the Omani message of love, friendship and peace among the visiting countries’ people.
The voyage also aims to revive the glories of ancient Omani marine history and its bright present at international marine festivals and regattas that the vessel will take part during its journey. — ONA
