Waves Engineering, RAHRC and Mehul advance

MUSCAT: Waves Engineering rode on match-winning performances by Mohammed Shakeel (3 for 19) and Safeer Abbas (64 not out) to thrash Khalsa United by 9 wickets in an Intermediate Cup Knockout game at Muscat Municipality ground 2 in Al Amerat.
Opting to field first, Waves Engineering restricted Khalsa to a modest 139 for 7 in 20 overs. Suhail (49 off 27) and Irfan Ahmed (30 off 30) were the main scorers. Mohammed Shakeel bowled brilliantly to claim three wickets.
Waves Engineering raced to the target in just 15.2 overs, scoring 140 for 1 thanks to Safeer’s superb knock.
Opener Kamaljot Singh remained unbeaten on 48 off 47.
Brief scores: Khalsa United 139 for 7 in 20 overs (Suhail 49 – 7×4, 1×6, Irfan Ahmed 30 – 4×4. Mohammed Shakeel 3-19) lost to Waves Engineering 140 for 1 in 15.2 overs (Safeer Abbas 64 not out – 7×4, 3×6, Kamaljot Singh 48 not out – 6×4, Mohammed Shakeel 24 – 3×4) by 9 wickets.

Faris powers RAHRC
to victory
In another Intermediate Cup match, Faris Said al Zadjali’s brilliant all-round talent powered RAHRC to an easy 8-wicket win over Bank Muscat at Muscat Municipality ground 1.
Invited to bat first, Bank Muscat was bundled out for a paltry 113 in 18.4 overs and Faris claimed four wickets for 21 runs while Mohammed Firoz took two. Ajay Hirlekar topscored with an unbeaten 22 off 26.
Chasing a small total proved to be a cake walk for RAHRC who scored 118 for 2 in 11.2 overs. Nanda Kumar was the highest scorer with 56 not out off 30 while Faris contributed valuable 49 off 31.
Brief scores: Bank Muscat 113 all out in 18.4 overs (Ajay Hirlekar 22 not out. Faris Said al Zadjali 4-21, Mohammed Firoz 2-28) lost to RAHRC 118 for 2 in 11.2 overs (Nanda Kumar 56 not out – 9×4, 1×6, Faris Said al Zadjali 49 – 10×4) by 8 wickets.

Mehul Enterprises post 9-run win
Mehul Enterprises sent Ahli Bank packing after a thrilling 9-run victory in another Intermediate Cup game at Muscat Municipality ground 2.
Batting first, Mehul amassed 182 for 6 in 20 overs thanks to solid knocks by Faizaan Mohammed (51 not out off 28), Javed Mohammed (38 off 28) and Imran Khan (32 off 14). Mohammed Arif and Arun Sharma bagged two wickets each.
Facing a big total, Ahli Bank made a valiant effort but fell short by 9 runs, scoring 173 for 7 in 20 overs. Farrukh Jamal (48 off 37) and Mohammed Arif (40 off 23) were the notable scorers. Farhan Syed and Haneef Jamaluddin claimed three and two wickets respectively.
