A campaign was carried out to clean and rehabilitate the Wadi Al Masala Park in Tanuf. The campaign was carried out by Al Shathaa Bint Jaber School in Nizwa in cooperation with Nizwa Municipality and Al Sadd team of the Nizwa Club.
It was aimed at rehabilitating the park as a tourist attraction. It was part of the Citizenship Programme project implemented by the school, with the slogan, ‘For the homeland... positive interaction and a sense of responsibility’.
The school has adopted the ‘Tourism Development in Tanuf’ project, which aims to promote year-round tourism in Tanuf instead of the current ‘seasonal tourism’.
During the campaign, waste was removed from the park, and walls and games repainted to attract families and children to the park.
As part of the project, the school will set up the Tanuf Cultural Forum, which will comprise events related to tourism, heritage and environment.
The programme seeks to inculcate the values of citizenship among students through a variety of activities — social, environmental, agricultural, educational, traffic and technological.
