When you gather international artists and put them in the same space as homegrown talents and photographers, you are left with an exhibit that is not only a visual feast but also an avenue for cooperation and exchange of knowledge between these international and upcoming artists.

That is exactly what is happening now as the Cultural Committee of Muscat Festival 2018, in cooperation with the Photography Society of Oman (PSO), organised Oman International Photography Forum from February 3 to 7, 2018.

The forum aims to enrich the art field and to allow Omani photographers to share their expertise and gain new knowledge with international photographers, showcasing the Sultanate in different lights and newer angles.

The forum hosted a number of activities and including trips around the Sultanate. Around 13 Omani and 21 international photographers participated.

The forum explores Oman through four photography exhibitions that will be opened throughout the forum days.

The forum is enriched by the photographic sessions that will be presented by Italian photographer Ricardo Bossi, president of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), Turkish photographer Riha Blair, Emirati photographer Saeed Al Shamsi, and Saudi photographer Mohammed Al-Falih.

“Square” Photography exhibition was launched yesterday (Sunday) at Bait al Zubair. It contains 73 monochrome photos by 54 photographers exhibiting Oman beauty along with 58 coloured photos by 51 photographers from 11 different countries.

The Square is a unique Omani contest which was sponsored by FIAP. It is an unprecedented competition which drives the photographer to challenge his thoughts to come up with the photo in a square frame. The exhibition runs until February 22, 2018.

The Youth Photography Exhibition was opened at Middle East College last Monday.

The exhibition includes 86 pictures for 54 photographers under the age of 20 years and 124 photos for 71 photographers under the age of 15 years. The exhibition was shifted to be hosted at the Photographic Society of Oman.
