Oman national football team manager Pim Verbeek is confident that his selected squad for both internal & external training camps are the best — fits his vision and needs. “I make decisions according to my vision and my staff no matter what’s said around by the football analysts or fans because we are in a country where football is very popular so the diversity of opinions is very normal,’’ the Dutch manager said ahead of his side’s friendly match against Syria.

“The selection of the team proved its accuracy in the historical victory against Bhutan.” Pim Verbeek’s side will finish the internal training camp on Friday when they face Syria in a friendly at Sultan Qaboos Stadium in Bausher on Friday at 10:30 pm

Verbeek was satisfied about what has been done so far in his training sessions at Sultan Qaboos Stadium.

“So far, the camp is going quite good but we have some problems as Ahmed Kano had a fever and now he just came back after medicine while Ali al Busaidi is a little injured and I am giving him a rest till he is fully recovered,” Verbeek said.

“Ali al Habsi will join us in Jordan as he finished his duty with Reading FC just few days ago.

After Syria’s friendly game, the red warriors will travel to have external training camp in Jordan from June 3 to 15. The two camps are to prepare for the Asian Cup qualifying game against Palestine, which will be played on June 13 at Faisal al Husseini International Stadium in Al Ram.

“Syrian team is a very strong team and this friendly match will help us to figure out the excellent lineup and be fully prepared to win the game opposite Palestine”, Verbeek said.

Verbeek tested a system of 4-2-3-1 during the training sessions by playing AbdulAzeez al Buqbali in the box as striker followed by three players behind: Jameel al Yahmedi (right winger), Qasim Said (left winger), and Mohsen Jawhar as playmaker which shifts to be nine-false.

“I might start with 4-2-3-1 formation in Syrian friendly but that is not very important because I want to try as many as possible players”

“I want everyone to be ready for the external training camp in Jordon. Therefore, a wide mixture of players in the lineup and continous changes will help them all to adapt to this high-temperature weather.’’ Verbeek added.

On May 25, Pim Veerbek has announced his list of 26 players for the two internal and external training camps.

The list are: Ali al Habsi, Faiz al Rushaidi, Abdulaziz al Muqbali, Mohammed al Mashari, Saad bin Suhail al Mukhaini, Basil bin Abdullah al Rawahi, Abdulsalam bin Amor al Mukhaini, Nadhir Awadh Bashir, Ali bin Sulaiman al Busaidi, Raed bin Ibrahim al Mukhaini, Qasim Said Hardan, Riyadh Subait, Abdullah Fawaz, Jameel al Yahmadi, Ibrahim al Mukhaini, Khalid Salah, Sami Khamis, Saud al Farsi, Yasin al Shiyadi, Mohammed al Musallami, Omar bin Talib al Fazari, Mahmood bin Mabrouk al Mushaifri, Mohsin al Khalidi, Ahmed Mubarak ‘Kanu’, Khalid al Hajri, and Mohammed bin Faraj al Rawahi.
