San Francisco: The US magazine VegNews described the Sultanate as ‘Jewel of the Arabian Peninsula’. The magazine urged to visit the Sultanate as it is a unique destination. The Sultanate is one of few places in the Middle East free of sectarian conflict, political instability and terrorism, the magazine said in a report, pointing out to its success in striking a delicate balance between modernity and tradition. The magazine added that the Sultanate is a country that is very kind to all, and its essence and style are unique. By observing the rapid development, Oman has charted a cautious and sustainable path of progress without forgetting its heritage and Arab hospitality.

With solar energy and strategic plans to become a luxury travel destination, the Sultanate is setting up plans for its prosperity, the magazine said. It added that when attention is focused on environmental sustainability, options for plant care emerge.

Exploration trips on the east coast include relaxing in the desert valleys, watching the turtles and feeling the uniqueness of the desert, the magazine added.

The magazine explained that the local cuisine reflects the trade relations with India, Iran and East Africa, making biryani, red lentils and black peas a staple food, yet new foods are constantly entering the country, the magazine said.

The magazine said that Omani vegetable varieties can be found at the Dokana Cafe in the capital, Muscat, where simple meals from the past, such as bread and chickpeas, are found while Hayat Restaurant focuses on healthy food with vegetarian options, mushrooms, avocados and tomatoes.

A Japanese restaurant offering gluten-free vegetarian menus will be opened in the coming months.

The magazine talked about the city of Nizwa and its castles and historic markets, as well as the green terraces of Al Jabal Al Akhdar or the Green Mountain and how travellers can enjoy vegetarian dishes, such as red quinoa porridge, almonds and others.

The magazine noted the pleasure of diving in Musandam with a variety of hard and soft coral reefs, sharks and green turtles, as well as the opportunity to enjoy fresh fruits, nuts and raisins.

The magazine highlighted the landscape in the Sultanate of Oman, where there are a variety of waterfalls, beaches and mountains. — IANS
