MUSCAT: Two young Omanis were awarded the 2018 Oman Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK. The function was organised by BAE Systems Oman along with the British Embassy in Muscat last week. The recipients of this year’s scholarships are Aisha bint Mohammed al Saifi, who is pursuing an MSc in Engineering for International Development at University College London, and Eman bint Omar al Riyami, who is studying for an MA in Global Entrepreneurship at Coventry University. The British Ambassador to Oman, Hamish Cowell, was joined by BAE Systems Oman General Manager, Ian Lane, and past Omani Chevening recipients to bid farewell to this year’s scholars. The annual Chevening Scholarships in Oman, supported by BAE Systems Oman, aims to empower Oman’s talented youth in pursuing higher education in the UK and provide them with the necessary skills to support Oman’s future ambitions.
