Traditional celebrations at Rustaq College

Rustaq, Nov 26 - The Rustaq College of Education celebrated the 47th National Day with traditional songs, dance performances and exhibitions organised on the occasion.


The celebrations were held under the auspicious of Dr Ahmed al Badri, Dean of Rustaq College of Education. It was attended by the administrative staff, academic faculty and students.


The ceremony began with a traditional dance performance by male children wearing dishdasha, the traditional Omani attire.


A competition was held on the occasion in which teams had to express in less than two minutes what they felt about the National Day.


A video showing what the academic faculty of Rustaq College had to say about the National Day was screened on the occasion, followed by the recitation of a poem by a schoolchild.


The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to College Dean Dr Ahmed Al Badri. The Dean also cut a cake to mark the occasion.


An exhibition was held that showcased Oman’s beauty.


Dhiya’a Al Elm School


The Dhiya’a Al Elm Basic Education School in Al Maladah, Al Musanah, celebrated the 47th national day in the school campus.


The celebrations were held under the auspicious of Fatima al Aljmi, the principal.


While the school building was decorated with red, green and white balloons, the students wore traditional attire and waved the national flags.


The ceremony began with an operetta staged by the school’s male and female students titled ‘Oman’s Wedding’. The operetta started with the singing of the National Anthem followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran.


A poem on the love expressed for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos was recited by Abdul Rahman al Saadi and Ahmed al Saadi, both students.


All students sang the song, ‘We are the sons of Oman’. They performed traditional dances such as Al Razha and Al Bara’a. A ‘traditional’ fashion show was presented by mothers of some students.
