MUSCAT: The 6th International MENA Clinical Toxicology Association Scientific Congress will begin at the Raddison Blue, Sohar on Saturday under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health. The conference is organised by the Emergency Department (ED) at Sohar hospital in collaboration with the Middle East & North Africa Association for Clinical Toxicology (MENATOX).

The event is part of the Ministry of Health (MoH) efforts to enhance the health systems in the Sultanate and improve the care of poisoned patients under the current industrial expansion in the country.

The three-day conference will host prominent international speakers from the US, India and France, in addition to local and regional speakers. They will share their valuable knowledge and experiences in the field of clinical toxicology.

More than 200 healthcare providers from the Sultanate and abroad are expected to participate in the conference, which aims at familiarising the participants to the most common toxic episodes and management through the presentation of working papers and workshops, as well as discussions, which will include updates in paediatric toxicology, emergency medicine toxicology and critical care toxicology. — ONA
