Tourism Minister takes part in Souk Okaz festival opening

TAIF, Saudi Arabia: Ahmed bin Nasser al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, took part in the opening of the 11th edition of Souk Okaz festival in Taif, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday. The minister’s participation came in response to an invitation from Prince Sultan bin Salman, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH).


Held under the theme ‘Renewable Creativity’, this year’s edition will witness more than 100 functions featuring the cultural, heritage and economic identity of Souk Okaz as well as the main functions and activities which include, among other things, Arabic poetry and literature, performing arts, cultural evenings for standard Arabic poetry and cultural workshops.


The festival saw distribution of various awards which included the Classical Arabic Poetry Award, the Arabic Narration Award, Okaz International Poetry Award for Classical Arabic Language Poetry (Okaz Poet), Okaz Creativity Award, Okaz Arabic Calligraphy Award and the Okaz Innovation Award. — ONA
