Tiny tots from Oman bag medals at int’l math event

Nine children from Oman participated in an international math event in Dubai came out with flying colours and bringing home seven champions trophies home. These kids outshined their peers at the 3rd International Abacus Competition hosted by Brainobrain International, the event was held at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium. Indian High School Dubai brought home one Gold Topper and Silver Topper medal. The Champion Trophy is the highest accolade that one can achieve in their respective categories.


More than 3000 contestants from around the world were divided into 12 categories, each category was further divided into sub-categories according age and course level that the children were currently pursuing. In the assessment of their ability, contenders were given three minutes to complete tasks, some choosing to do it with the help of the abacus and some without.


S V Sowparnika Vinoth (Grade 1, Indian School Darsait); Ajay Senthilkumar (KG2, Indian Nursery, Al Ghubrah Branch); Hashim Ibrahimbhai Officewala, (Grade 7, Indian School Al-Ghubra); Pranav Pramod, (Grade 3, ISG); Samya Ahmed Karkar, (Grade1, Azzan Bin Qais International School); Dhanvi Vikranth, (Grade 2, ISM); Riddhish Rahul Mane, (Grade 3, ISWK); Dhanya Panguluri, (Grade 1, Indian School Mabela); and Devi Sri Marimuthu (KG 2, ISM) made their well-wishers proud after winning the coveted accolades.


“We organise international, national and regional competitions among different centres in an effort to heighten competitive skills in our children”, Anand Subramaniam, Managing Director of Brainobrain International said, adding, “We are much energised to see kids from Oman participating in this competition for the first time and winning these awards.


“These brilliant kids have exceeded our expectation in all ways. A big kudos to the parents and the respective faculty who have put their heart and soul in helping these kids achieve such heights in this excellent International event”, Zaher al Sulaimani said.
