By Lakshmi Kothaneth — MUSCAT: April 3 - Temperatures in many parts of Oman have already hit 40 degrees Celsius. According to the Met office (Public Authority for Civil Aviation), temperatures will continue to fluctuate, but it is not summer yet. “The weather chart shows thermal low over the Arabian Peninsula,” said the weather office. This means a low pressure due to rising temperature in the region. “This will bring in the southwesterly wind across Oman and result in higher temperatures. However we are still reaching summer, not there yet,” an official at Met office said.

Fahud and Mhout witnessed temperatures as high as 41 degrees Celsius, followed by Ibri, Rustaq, Adam, Mudhaibi, Ras al Had and Haima scorching at 40 degrees. The lowest temperature was recorded in Jabal Shams with 15 degree, Saiq 18 and Jabal Samhan 19 degrees. There has been an advisory on dust storm for Fahud, Ibra, Madha, Qarn Alam, Yaaloni, Suhar Majis, Masirah, Ibri, Adam, Suwaiq, Mudhaibi, Haima, Mhout, Al Sinauna, Zamaim, Bidiya, Shinas, Saham, Liwa and Al Khabourah. There is a caution for poor visibility during dust storm. According to the Met office the weather forecast for today is mainly clear skies over most of the Sultanate with chances of blowing dust over deserts and open areas of the northern governorates.
