MUSCAT: Seeking to empower 19 Omani women entrepreneurs from 13 small and medium enterprises and enabling them to operate effectively, Tawasul’s capacity building programme, Mulhimat recently concluded its gap analysis phase. The initiative is supported by BP Oman as part of its Social Investment Programme to support local women SME’s from across Oman.

“We were pleased with the positive feedback we received from the participating Omani women entrepreneurs. They each shared with us the benefits they got from the programme, and how they effectively and practically applied the learnt skills and information to their businesses directly, and the difference that this change brought about. By supporting this programme, we are working  towards helping participants realise their aspirations and supporting the applied efforts to enhance the performance of their SMEs, we are making positive impact on the society and the national economy as a whole,” Shamsa Ahmed al Rawahi, BP Oman Social Investment Programme Officer.

The programme consisted of gap analysis of the SMEs, which is the comparison of actual performance with potential or desired performance. Personal assessments of the participating women were conducted as well, which was then followed by visits to the SMEs. The representatives delivered their assessment results to the entrepreneurs and set key performance indicators (KPIs) to bridge the gaps on their visits. Furthermore, 5 workshops covering leadership capacity and proficiency in communication were held too.

“Through the Mulhimat Programme, we are aiming to equip Omani women the right skill-sets so that they can improve and develop their SMEs further. Mulhimat devised a series of workshops, visits and events, which had a great impact on the participants, both personally and professionally,” commented Hazim Abdullah, CEO at Tawasul.

“I met a lot of other amazing women entrepreneurs and we helped each other throughout the programme as a team. The experts who delivered the workshops managed to reach every one of us and provided us with ample information to run our businesses smoothly and easily. I would like to thank Tawasul for giving me the opportunity to be a part of Mulhimat and would like to show my gratitude to BP for sponsoring the programme,” said Hasnaa Al Daudi, a participant from Ruwad Trading.
