Tanfeedh orientation for ambassadors

MUSCAT: The Foreign Ministry in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Planning organised yesterday an orientation meeting for the diplomatic and consolatory missions, as well as resident-representatives of the international organisations in the Sultanate to introduce them to the National Economic Diversification Programme “ Tanfeedh’’. The meeting was held at the Diplomatic Institute under the auspices of Mohammed bin Yousef al Zarafi, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs.


Talal bin Sulaiman al Rahbi, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Planning and General Coordinator, for ‘Tanfeedh’ made a presentation on the programme, its aims, objectives, current role, future roadmap and the major challenges facing it. He answered the questions raised by the participants and shared views with them on the challenges that may face the programme and how to overcome them. On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr Azyad Beih Weld Mohammed Mahmoud, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Sultanate said in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the programme which has a clear-cut plan, focuses on the promising sectors in the Sultanate and will add value to the previous five-year developmental plans.


Franz Joseph Daikin, Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission in the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany stressed in a statement to ONA the importance of economic diversification. He pointed out that the Omani economy is following the right track by adopting this programme which will greatly serve the economic sector. On the other hand, Fazelianov Envarbik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Sultanate said that the Sultanate has positive indicators that qualify it to implement this national programme. — ONA
