Muscat, August 14 - The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources has issued a circular that seeks to withdraw the table eggs imported from European countries as a precautionary measure. They would be withdrawn until the results of the laboratory tests are known, says the circular sent to its general directorates and municipalities. The circular comes in the wake of the declaration of the Dutch Food Security Commission to recall the table eggs due to contamination. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has said all precautionary measures are in place to ensure that table eggs imported from European countries to the Sultanate are safe for consumption. The ministry said it has currently stopped the issue of new licences for the import of table eggs from European countries.
